Personally, I find the 991 Speedster to be one of the best iterations of the 911.
It offers a special combination unlike Porsche offered before, and in what is arguably the most timeless design. Even though the 991 Speedster is a GT3 at its heart, it offered a revised power plant. Most notably, this included a new throttle body, fuel injection, and exhaust system. While it is a little convoluted, and in the world of Porsche the Speedster is a 991.2, some refer to the power plant as a 991.3. This revised set-up can be found in a few late production 991.2 GT3 RS in European markets, along with the 992.1 GT3.
The 991 Speedster was the first time Porsche created an open top GT3, and it was done exceptionally well. I would argue the 991 offered the most timeless body style, along with the perfect integration of technology and an analogue experience in the interior. With each generation the 911 became more refined, so if you wish to find an experience which is more raw and analogue, search for earlier generations. Yet, you may not find a Speedster, and if you do, it certainly will not have a GT3 engine.
The 991 Speedster seems to be overlooked and undervalued in todays market.
While I do think the car looks exceptional as a whole, I specifically wanted to highlight the Paint to Sample chassis. There are many public resources, like Porsche Register, which were useful in this process, but unfortunately not everything was entirely accurate. I have been loosely keeping track of the 991 Speedster since deliveries began, but nothing in-depth like this. I'm hoping this website will help to shine a light on how special and limited these cars are as a whole.
There also seems to be a lot of secrecy around some of these Paint to Sample chassis and their respective chassis numbers, but I shared everything I was able to. I have been fortunate enough to speak to a few owners of some of the cars featured here, and while many of them are public on various social media platforms, I chose to keep everyone private.
